It feels light, like 390adv kinda, with obviously smoother power delievery, but same power - it is happier at lower rpms than 1 cylinder tho. You can feel that 21" front when getting over obstacles and holding a line in mushy surfaces. Suspension is better than 390adv IMO, and cyclistics, turning at full lock, it's all very intuitive and nothing surprised me in a negative way. I have spent that day on four bikes (my Svartpilen 401, t7, f900gs and 450mt) and f900gs and 450mt felt best for manoueuvering, if we put power and 3 times difference in price aside. It has very low seat (I am 175cm/5.8ft, and I am flatfooting it), but still has solid clearance under belly.
In first and second gear it's good enough for tackling light to medium steep offroad, but as I already mentioned, I would get a rear sprocket with few more teeth for my kind of riding. I would be okay with sitting on highway at 110kph. This 450mt is not yet registred, so I took it offroad only.
Few more things I noticed, both good and bad:
- screw on passenger peg mounts that double as protection are great, and if bent/grinded in a crash, you can easily swap them - I found this on my Norden to be really good protective part actually, and although I ride 99% alone, i left them on for protective reasons.
- linkage sits much more flush with the belly then for example compared to bikes like T7
- it has auxilary bars under and in front of the engine that are mounted on the frame above, so that the skidplate doesen't sit on engine but on those bars. I wouldnt jump on any logs with it, but still much better than just being mounted on the engine block.
- tubeless wheels are cool, but I am not sure how they would hold up on heavy abuse with this kind of design (gs, tuareg, desert x style, with spokes going to sides thus making rim wider and proner to bending. but still better love story than cast wheels). Not that the bike is at all made for heavy abuse haha, but I always first take a look at what parts are the most prone to damage.
- windshield is easily managable up and down and it's nor great nor terrible as protection, but its okay.
- controls are smooth, nothing clunky, it has solid amount of electronics which work as intended, although they reseted every time after turning off the bike. Maybe there is a way to turn TC and ABS constantly off.
- I hate exhausts that sit outside the rear fork. They eventually bend inside and scrape the fork after few drops to the (right) side. Just look at T7. Although here, mount seems a bit tougher and more cleverly positioned. But it's an adv bike, you will drop it, let's be real.
- rearview mirrors can be bent inside when riding offroad to prevent them from breaking
- VERY good response on inputs/dashboard, going through menus and that stuff. Design of the dash is very easy to navigate through.
- my epitome of a comfortable seat among modern bikes is Nordens stock seat, and if we call that one 10/10, I would say 450 has comfort lvl of about 7.5/10
- front headlight is so ugly to me, but I like designs like 901, so my opinion is not relevant I guess
rest of the bike is handsome, I like the naked subframe, and black color scheme it will be available in. Lights are also solid at night. Damn projector lenses, I hate them on gs1300 mt07 and Suzukis..
- brakes are some sub-brand of Brembo I've been told, but I didn't feel them as anything spectacular, just ok.
- tires are a shameless copy of Pirelli Scorpion STR and they perform exactly the same offroad (don't go wild on grass, and any wet offroad is highly not recommended)
